John Wolford Leads LA Rams To Playoffs In First NFL Start

It seems that with every NFL season, someone gets an opportunity to make a name for themselves. It usually doesn’t happen in week 17, with playoffs on the line, but in John Wolford’s case it was. Due to Jared Goff breaking this thumb, the former AAF Arizona Hotshot had to fill in and take over the QB position.

While it wasn’t his best performance, Wolford did enough to get LA the win. They beat the Arizona Cardinals 18-7 behind a stout defense, which secured the team a playoff spot as it was a ‘win and in’ situation.

John Wolford finished the day with 231 yards through the air. He did throw an interception, but was helped out by his defense in a game that the Rams dominated. Wolford did impress on the ground, running 6 times and gaining 56 yards. Wolford is actually the first QB to throw for over 200 yards, and run for over 50 in an NFL debut.

At the end of the day, the former AAF star won in his debut, and helped the Rams make the playoffs. We’ll have to wait and see if Goff is ready to go next week, as the Rams take on the Seattle Seahawks. If Goff cannot start, we would expect to see Wolford back out there.
