Over the last few years there’s been a lot of change in the arena football world. The long time Arena Football League (AFL) no longer exists, but out of its ashes we’ve seen the emergence of the Indoor Football League. Some of your favorite AFL teams are even in the IFL, including the Arizona Rattlesnakes who had one the most championships in AFL history.
Today, the Indoor Football League has announced some huge news for them and the city of Las Vegas. The NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights has purchased an IFL franchise. There is still a press conference set to take place later this afternoon, so we’re sure to get more details soon.
The new expansion team will be the AFL’s 18th team and will based out of Las Vegas Valley. The target is for the new team to take the field next year for the IFL’s 2022 season. If you ask me, I love the idea of more football; arena or traditional. The Indoor Football League seems in no shape to slow down anytime soon, and we can’t wait to see what this new team has instore.
Not to mention, the fact that the IFL is getting attention from such a major organization speaks volumes. We’ll keep you posted as more information on the new IFL franchise comes out.
