Breaking Down XFL TV Ratings From Week Three

Week three in the XFL has come and gone. It was an entertaining week of football, bringing fans some of the best games of the season so far. XFL TV Ratings were officially released this morning, so let’s take a look at how the league fared.

XFL TV Ratings For Week Three:

Vegas Vipers vs. Seattle Sea Dragons (FX): 528,000
DC Defenders vs. St. Louis Battlehawks (FX): 665,000
Arlington Renegades vs. Orlando Guardians (FX): 550,000
Houston Roughnecks vs. San Antonio Brahmas (ESPN2): 543,000

These are solid numbers, all things considered. Fans have to take into consideration that each game was on cable networks this week. For the XFL to be averaging over 500,000 viewers on FX, is an impressive feat.

Statistics help the XFL’s case. FX averaged 462,000 viewers in 2022. On top of that, ESPN2 averaged 335,000 viewers in 2022. At first glance – sure, these TV ratings aren’t anywhere close to 2020. However, it has to be taken into account that a lot has changed since then.

Streaming services, such as ESPN+, have also altered things. We don’t know those numbers, but it’s safe to say that there are a good handful of viewers using non-traditional sources to watch XFL games.

XFL TV Ratings For Week Three (2020):

Tampa Bay Vipers vs. Houston Roughnecks (ABC): 1.9M
Seattle Dragons vs. Dallas Renegades (FOX): 2M
St. Louis Battlehawks vs. New York Guardians (ESPN): 1.4M
Los Angeles Wildcats vs. DC Defenders (FS1): 1M

The XFL only has six nationally broadcasted games this season, on ABC. Two of those went down in week one, and we won’t get another until week six.

Week four of the XFL kicks off Saturday, as the Orlando Guardians host the Houston Roughnecks at 7pm ET on FX.
