The St. Louis BattleHawks quarterback Jordan Ta’amu was the youngest in the XFL, but was among the best. When the XFL was forced to cut their season short due to Covid-19, Ta’amu was not without a job for long. Once the XFL allowed players to explore new opportunities, Ta’amu was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was later cut in September, but was brought into the practice squad. Unfortunately for him, the Chiefs made SMU quarterback Shane Buechele a priority free agent, guaranteeing him $175,000.
As expected after a move like that, the Chiefs cut Ta’amu earlier today. That leaves them with Chad Henne, Anthony Gordon and Buechele behind Patrick Mahomes.
Ta’amu has spent time with the Raiders, Texans and Lions in addition to the Chiefs since going undrafted in 2019. During his short time with the BattleHawks Ta’amu threw for 1,050 yards resulting in five touchdowns… and ran for 217 yards for one touchdown… in only five games… as a rookie. The BattleHawks were always a fan favorite, but they stumbled across something special in Ta’amu.
Jordan Ta’amu is still young, and we fully expect him to get another opportunity in the near future. Once we hear more, we’ll keep you posted on the latest.
