TDECU Stadium Officially Named Home of First XFL Championship Game

TDECU Reportedly Set To Host XFL in 2023 — Houston Will Return

Yesterday, XFL co-owner Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took the stage at Disney Upfront to drop major news. It was revealed that the league had signed an exclusive five-year deal with ABC and the Walt Disney Company to distribute their content worldwide.

In the leadup to the big news, we saw teases from both co-owners. One of which, eluded to the fact that the XFL would play out of their respective markets rather than use the hub model.

The XFL announced earlier this month that the league would be using Texas as a headquarters, but it was expected that Houston would be left out of the mix.

Well, it looks like fans of the Roughnecks should be happy about this news. Mark Berman of local FOX affiliate reports that the University of Houston and TDECU Stadium is set to host XFL games when it returns in 2023.

Now that all of the head coaches are known, the broadcast package has been revealed, there’s one big item left. The locations that the XFL will utilize in 2023. We’ve been able confirm a few, but it looks like we can add Houston to the mix.

If the Roughnecks do come back, it may be with a new look and feel. The trademark for its primary and secondary logos were both disputed. But, that should be easy to solve. Alternatively, the league could opt to use a new name. But, you kind of lose the charm of having an undefeated team in your league.
