XFL COMPLETES DAY ONE OF DRAFT IN LAS VEGAS

XFL Announces Plans to Hold Supplemental Draft on Jan 1

Although many XFL fans are waiting for news around the 2023 season schedule, the league is working as business as usual. Earlier today the league named 11-time Emmy Award winner Bill McCullough as Chief Content Officer.

Now, we have even more news to report. The XFL has revealed that they will hold a supplemental draft on January 1, 2023.

The media alert states that the draft pool consists of players who were previously ineligible to be drafted, as well as players who were not selected during the initial XFL Draft.

The timing of this is no coincidence. There are a good amount of USFL players that are currently on contract until the end of the year.

Players from the draft in November had until December 26th to sign a contract with the league. Needless to say, it should be interesting to see the free agent picks announced by the USFL later this week. But, with the supplemental draft around the corner, we could see the XFL attempt to dip into the USFL player pool once again.

The selection process will utilize a snake style format for all positions. Ultimately, each team will have 66 players on hand after the draft that will join them in training camp.

If you were curious about the order, the XFL provided that as well.

  1. St. Louis BattleHawks
  2. San Antonio Brahmas
  3. Arlington Renegades
  4. Seattle Sea Dragons
  5. Vegas Vipers
  6. Orlando Guardians
  7. DC Defenders
  8. Houston Roughnecks

There’s a little over two and a half months before the XFL hits the field for the third time. At the time of publication schedules had yet to be released, but it should be any day now.

Who would you like to see the XFL select in the supplemental draft next month? Let us know down in the comments below or join the conversation on Discord.
