XFL Draft Set for Nov 16 According to Anthony Becht

XFL Contract Details Surface Following Compensation Meeting

This have been a big week for the XFL. Arguably the biggest since it was revealed that the league had been purchased out of bankruptcy by Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and RedBird Capital.

It’s been nearly two years since the group has taken over the XFL, and things are really starting to ramp up toward their 2023 return. This past Sunday the new ownership group held their first town hall in Arlington, TX. This is where the league officially announced the eight host cities for 2023. Additionally, we learned all of the venues, other than Las Vegas.

The following day the league held a press conference at Choctaw Stadium where it was announced that Arlington would service as a central hub for the XFL. Unlike the USFL, the XFL will be playing out of their individual cities, but players and coaches will travel from and back to Arlington, TX between games.

There was also another event that took place yesterday, but this one was behind the scenes. The league held a player compensation meeting, where some major information dropped surrounding the contracts for 2023.

From the call we learn that the XFL will be holding a five-week training camp, where players will be paid $800/week. Moving to the regular season, the pay jumps to $5,000/week with a $1,000 victory bonus.

In the playoffs, both winning and losing teams will receive a bonus. At the time of publication there’s no details on how much and if there’s a difference between the two.

Additionally, the XFL will provide meals and housing for all of the players in Arlington, TX. The league is also going to be including health insurance, but there will be a cost if the player wants to add additional family memebers.

We also learn that the league will also have a different pay scale for quarterbacks. This is a similar approach to the 2020 iteration, but it’s still to be seen if the league will also assign the QBs to each of the franchises.

It’s reported that the XFL will hold their draft this November, and with this news it seems their getting closer to having all of their pieces in palce for 2023.
