Jousters TE De’Quan Hampton Signs With The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Spring League put together a successful season in 2021, as eight teams battled it out for six weeks to see who would come out on top. Ultimately, the Linemen defeated the Jousters in the Mega Bowl, and took home the championship trophy.

All eight groups featured talented players, but some team rosters stood out above the rest, such as the Jousters, who won their division.

De’Quan Hampton was a part of that Jousters team this season, and showed what he could do at the professional level. Week in and week out he produced solid numbers, and was one of Luis Perez’ favorite targets throughout the year.

News broke today that the defending NFL champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have now added the young tight end to their roster.

This is fantastic to see, as it proves what we’ve believed for quite some time now: The Spring League can produce talent that will be seen by those in NFL organizations. While the road ahead for Hampton is going to be a tough one, this is an excellent step in the right direction.

XFL Career

Hampton also took part in the XFL during their shortened 2020 season, playing for the Los Angeles Wildcats. He didn’t see much action to start, but became an important weapon down the stretch. His time in the XFL is best defined by this incredible TD grab against Tampa Bay:

Conclusion

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers now have another tight end on their roster who can certainly do some damage, when given the chance.

Only time will tell if Hampton will make the 53 man roster before the season starts, but the young man should be confident in his skills to at least grant himself an opportunity.
