With the USFL set to return in April under FOX ownership, we’ve seen more and more promotion from the company. The Herd in particular seems to be their favorite news source.
Over the past couple months we’ve seen Colin Cowherd reveal the league’s teams, divisional breakdowns and the first four head coaches.
Generally, the USFL would make an announcement a night prior letting fans know when the news is coming. This time around fans are getting a short notice, with the league just now breaking the news.
Across all social media channels, the USFL just revealed that the last four head coaches will be announced today on The Herd.
Tune-in to @TheHerd on FS1 today at 12pm ET / 9am PT for a special announcement about the final four USFL coaches. pic.twitter.com/DRUl9YIILj

UPDATE: Shortly before the announcement went live on The Herd, we confirmed with sources close to the league that a decision was made to only announce two head coaches today.
With player selections set to take place at the end of February we expected that the news would be coming down the pipeline soon. The last time on The Herd the USFL gave us two coaches from each division. Leaving the Michigan Panthers and Pittsburgh Maulers for the North, and the New Orleans Breakers and Birmingham Stallions for the south.
- New Jersey Generals – Mike Riley
- Houston Gamblers – Kevin Sumlin
- Tampa Bay Bandits – Todd Haley
- Philadelphia Stars – Bart Andrus
Earlier this week the USFL sent out a notice to local media in Birmingham, AL letting them know that they will be holding a press conference at Protective Stadium next week. When this news came out, a lot were hoping we’d get news on the coaches, but the good news is the wait is much shorter.
The show starts at 12pm ET on FS1 and FOX Sports Radio, so make sure you tune in to get the official word as soon as it drops.
