Bob Stoops Signs Contract — Officially Joins BIG NOON KICKOFF on FOX

Bob Stoops Headed Back to Oklahoma as Interim Head Coach

Back when the XFL was ramping up towards their 2020 return, the league named Bob Stoops as the first head coach of the Dallas Renegades. This was a major announcement for a new football league, Stoops was coming from his short retirement from Oklahoma, where he became the winningest coach in college football history.

When the XFL was forced into bankruptcy due to COVID, Stoops went on to join FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show.

Now, it seems like Big Game Bob is getting back into coaching; at least in the short term.

Multiple sources report that Bob Stoops will be coming back to Oklahoma as their interim head coach. This news comes off of the news that Lincoln Riley has decided to leave his position as head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners to take over the program at USC.

The Sooners coaching staff learned of Riley’s move on Sunday, a source told The Athletic. The team was informed this afternoon during a meeting, sources said. Riley attended, as did former coach Bob Stoops, who will coach the Sooners in their remaining bowl game.

It’s hard to say if Bob Stoops will return next year, but at minimum he has another opportunity to get another win for Oklahoma under his belt. There’s already rumors of Kliff Kingsbury being a potential candidate.
