It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything official from the XFL. For instance, it’s been over six months since the CFL and XFL decided to pass on a partnership. More importantly, it’s been six months since the league officially postponed its return to 2023. To be honest, it wasn’t a surprising move considering where the XFL was at with their launch prior to 2020.
Since then, we’ve seen the occasional XFL mention from Dany Garcia, and recently even Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson also mentioned the league for the first time in a long time in an Instagram post.
Well, today we have another tease from Garcia. This one has a clue hidden deep, yet in plain sight.
In her latest post she states “Off to NYC for a big Football Monday @XFL” and included an image an Ownership Update deck with today’s date. Now, here’s where the real fun begins. Beneath the ownership updates deck is another set of papers, this one seems to display both the XFL and NFL logo. Wow!
Instantly, this sent XFL fans into a flurry online, many quickly finding the clue and trying to figure out what it means. Could it be a partnership? Could it just be talking points that the league wants to go over to ensure that they don’t stray too far away from their competitor? We may never know. But, it’s a big assumption to think that the XFL is jumping into bed with the NFL.

One thing that we can assume, is that XFL news should be coming at some point in the near future. Some have worried that the XFL isn’t saying enough online, others thinks its wise for them to get their ducks in a row before beginning the marketing push towards 2023.
Unlike 2020, the XFL is set to see a new competitor join the field in 2022 with the return of the USFL. This could be another reason we’re seeing the XFL wait it out another year.
