When the XFL kicked off earlier this year one of the big name tier 1 quarterbacks was Cardale Jones of the DC Defenders. He was one of eight quarterbacks chosen prior to the 2019 XFL draft and assigned rather than drafted.
There was a lot of hype that Jones had joined the league, he was even featured on an episode of WWE Raw leading up to the XFL season.

During his time with the Defenders he racked up 674 yards, resulting in four touchdowns. Jones started out the season strong, leading the Defenders to their first two wins of the season before running into some roadblocks. Even so, DC was still atop of the eastern conference when the XFL was forced to suspend their season after five games due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now, via NFL Draft Diamonds, we’re learning that Cardale Jones is in Las Vegas working out for the Las Vegas Raiders. If signed, that means he’ll be in competition with Nathan Peterson for that third quarterback position.

Cardale Jones started his career at Ohio State. At the beginning of the 2014 season, he was listed as third on the Ohio State depth chart at quarterback. However, after injuries to Braxton Miller in August and J. T. Barrett, he led the Buckeyes to a National Championship . He went on to be drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks before joining the DC Defenders.
This is just another name of many that have either worked out or been signed by an NFL franchise. We hope to see Cardale joining the Raiders or any other team in the near future. As the NFL season approaches we expect to see many more former XFL players making the jump the the NFL.
