Donald Trump and Stone Cold invited to attend XFL kickoff?

Last week the XFL officially revealed their team names and logos, and According to WWE insider Brad Shepard, Texas native ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin will be invited to the Dallas Renegades’ first XFL game.

This would be a change of pace for the league, as it doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes of the original. One of which was too closely associating with its wrestling counterpart. Austin is an avid Cowboys fan, so it wouldn’t be completely out of the ordinary of him to attend any of the games.

In a more interesting twist, Shepard also reports that President Donald Trump will be invited to the inaugural game.

When Vince McMahon announced the XFL was returning, he stated that this would be a no politics league. It would be a great start for the league to have the President on hand, it just doesn’t seem likely.

Donald Trump has shown his displeasure for the NFL on Twitter in the past. Additionally Linda McMahon recently served in his administration as Administrator of the Small Business Administration. She recently stepped down to assume new responsibilities within Trump’s re-election campaign. So, there is a connection.

McMahon and Trump have a long standing relationship. Trump hosted Wrestlemania 4 and 5 out of Trump Plaza, where he was in attendance for both. Trump has also made many appearances on WWE programming. During one story line Donald Trump had purchased the RAW brand, leading to a hair vs hair match with Trump and McMahon in their respective contestants corners. Bobby Lashley, who represented Trump, ultimately won the bout. Donald Trump is also a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, making him the first HoF member to become President of the United States.

If either of these are true, then the second seems more likely. Keep in mind, there’s no other information around either of these items. Shepard’s XFL claim to fame so far is that he broke the news that the league would be returning. He has been accused of creating stories in the past, so I wouldn’t put out of the question that this is the case here.
