On multiple social media platforms, The Rock posted a promo for the league’s return, along with some encouraging words about the XFL’s future.
XFL returns SPRING 2022 🏈
As owners, we’re proud to champion our XFL players, coaches, cities and fans into an electrifying 2022 season!
It’s an uphill battle – but we’re hungry, humble and no one will outwork us.

In his post made on Instagram, Johnson says:
“As owners, we’re proud to champion our XFL players, coaches, cities and fans into an electrifying 2022 season! I’m so inspired to put in the work because football always represented an opportunity to me.
Opportunity to take care of my family. And even though my dreams of playing pro football never came true – I’m in the exciting and humbling position to create opportunities for players so their dreams can come true. It’s an uphill battle – but we’re hungry, humble and no one will outwork us. A league of culture, passion & purpose. We are the XFL and we’re back spring 2022!”
While we will have to wait some time to see the XFL play football once again, it is wonderful to know that there will be a season in 2022. With the league in the hands of Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and RedBird Capital, there is no limit to how high the XFL can fly. With their sights set on a 2022 season, the time is now for the league to restructure, and rebuild to be stronger than ever. It will take some time, but it will certainly be worth it to put the best product out on the football field. The XFL is back!
