When the XFL was forced to suspend its inaugural season due to the Covid-19 pandemic we saw a lot of guys move on to the NFL and CFL. One of those former XFL players was New York Guardians defensive back Ranthony Texada when he signed on with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Now that the CFL has officially cancelled its season, players are now able to opt-out of their contracts to pursue playing opportunities elsewhere. Ranthony took to Twitter to state that he is going to be doing just that and pursuing an opportunity in the NFL or even a potential return to the XFL.
With the 2020 CFL season being cancelled this year, i have decided to take a leap of faith and opt out of my contract to pursue NFL/XFL opportunites. My body of work speaks for itself , and I believe i have what it takes to compete with the best! https://t.co/yNNkY5mlZ4 pic.twitter.com/Hdt6272piG

During his time with the New York Guardians he registered 16 tackles and one sack in five games. He ranks eighth in Big 12 history in pass knockdowns with 30 after his career at Texas Christian University.
It’s unfortunate that the CFL was also forced to suspend their season, which has lead to many players that were and weren’t in the XFL left in a similar position. We hope to see Texada make the jump to the NFL and would absolutely love to see him back in the XFL.
We’ll keep you posted as more information comes out on this subject. Until then, what former CFL players would you like to see join the XFL when it returns? Let us know down in the comments below or join the conversation on Discord.
