We have been hearing a lot of noise that Jim Herrman would be joining the XFL New York franchise as Defensive Coordinator, but nothing was concrete enough to report on. Well, we can now confirm this, Herrman himself updated his Twitter bio to display his new role for the XFL, he also made the following Tweet yesterday regarding the XFL’s TV schedule.

Most recently, Herrmann was linebackers coach for the Indianapolis Colts. He played college football at the University of Michigan from 1980 to 1982 and served as an assistant football coach at Michigan from 1985 to 2005, including nine years as defensive coordinator from 1997 to 2005. After the 1997 Michigan Wolverines football team won the national championship, Herrmann received the Frank Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in the nation. He also served as the New York Jets’ linebackers coach from 2006 to 2008 and also coached with Gilbride during the Giants Super Bowl win over the Patriots as Linebackers coach.
UPDATE: The Official Twitter account for XFL New York has now confirmed that Jim Herrmann would be taking the defensive coordinator role for the franchise.
