We’ve been talking a lot about the National Arena League (NAL) this week, but we can’t forget about the Indoor Football League (IFL) because their making some news as well.
Earlier this year it was announced that the NAL would be expanding into Nevada with the owners of the NHL’s Vega Golden Knights purchasing a team. A few months later the name was finally revealed as the Vegas Knight Hawks, which has spurred fans to borrow the St. Louis BattleHawks ‘Kaw Kaw’ as a team slogan.
Needless to say the league is hoping to make a splash in Vegas, and as a new team they have a lot to accomplish before the season kicks off. Earlier today the franchise announced five new players that will be joining the roster.
The Vegas Knight Hawks have signed the following players:
– Matt Elam, Safety
– Dalton Sneed, Quarterback
– Kenneth Walker III, Wide Receiver
– Palake Aiono, Offensive Lineman
– Sione Kava, Defensive Lineman— Vegas Knight Hawks (@KnightHawksIFL) November 13, 2021
Perhaps the biggest signing of the bunch was veteran safety, Matt Elam. Elam most recently played for the IFL’s Tuscon Sugar Skulls and most notably played for the DC Defenders during the shortened 2020 season. During his time in the XFL, he secured 13 tackles and one interception.
He’s a former first round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 and played college ball at the University of Florida where he was named First Team All-SEC.
Joining Elam is Dalton Sneed (QB), Kenneth Walker III (WR), Palake Aiono (OL) and Sione Kava (DL).
The Vegas Knight Hawks are set to play out of the new Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, NV. Currently the team is accepting deposits on tickets for the upcoming season, which is currently set at $20.
As for schedule, the team site currently states the following:
IFL teams are currently playing a 16-game schedule in 2021, with each team having eight home games and eight road games. More information regarding upcoming schedules will be announced at a later date.
The IFL season is set to kickoff March 12, with the Knight Hawks first home game set for March 18th against the Norther Arizona Wranglers.
