Former AAF QB/Summer Showcase attendee, Luis Perez working out for Panthers

Luis Perez Traded to New York Guardians

Luis Perez was one of the tier 1 quarterbacks announced before the inaugural XFL Draft. Since then the Los Angeles Wildcats have acquired veteran, Josh Johnson. Once Johnson was named, it was speculated by many fans that he would take control as the starting quarterback. Those speculations seem to be coming to fruition.

It was just revealed that the Los Angles Wildcats have traded Luis Perez in exchange for QB Chad Kanoff. Perez joins Matt McGloin where he would serve as backup. Time will tell, and there is still a few days left in the XFL’s training camp. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more on the quarterback situation in both Los Angeles and New York.

Perez spent the 2018 offseason with the Los Angeles Rams but was waived after the preseason. That’s when he found his way to the ill-fated AAF. He had an up-and-down ride with the Birmingham Iron, completing just 52.3 percent of his passes and throwing 6 INTs to 5 TDs in eight games. Perez also ran for 75 yards.

Once the AAF folded, Perez signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but was cut after rookie minicamp.
