As you know by now, the XFL’s season came to a sudden conclusion due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Since then, we’ve seen a good amount of folks make the jump from the XFL to the CFL. Today, we have our second CFL move to date since the closure of the XFL.
According to 3 Down Nation, CFL’s B.C. Lions have signed kicker Sergio Castillo to a two-year contract through the 2021 season, per sources.
Castillo most recently played for the Houston Roughnecks, knocking in 6-of-9 attempts during the shortened XFL season. Prior to his time in Houston he led the CFL with a 91.1 field goal percentage, hitting 41-of-45 attempts for the Lions last season on the way to earning the West Division’s all-star kicker honours.
Castillio becomes the second XFL player to join the CFL and the 26th player to move to a new league. We’ll keep you posted as more players make the next step in their careers.
