Screenshots Surface of XFL Video Game That was in Production

People have been asking about an XFL video game since before the league kicked off this past February and were hoping to see something by the time the league was ready for its second season. When the XFL was forced to file for bankruptcy due to the coronavirus pandemic, naturally the speculation had dissipated.

Earlier this week XFL fans everywhere woke up to the news that the league had been purchased by Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Gerry Cardinale (RedBird Capital). This has breathed new life into the league and has even led to some information coming out what the league was doing in regards to a video game.

Shortly after the news became public, some screenshots were posted on Twitter that show that the XFL was very close to being added to Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football.

If you’re not aware, Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football is a game where you can select your league format (130 US teams or 27 Canadian teams) and create your own College Football universe by customizing every team, player, uniform and logo. Recruit the next College superstar, dominate the rankings and earn your way into a Bowl or Playoff game.

After doing a little more digging, we were able to find some more images from the un-finished, un-released game via RyanMoody21 on YouTube.

In another video posted on the same channel, we get to see some actual footage of the game. You can tell that there was still some work left to be done before this would be ready for the public, but it’s neat to get a sneak peak at what could have been.

It’s hard to say how far along the team was in development with this, or if it would have been ready for the XFL’s 2021 season. We also don’t know if the deal the XFL had with Maximum Football will still be active when the league returns under new ownership. Regardless, it’s cool to see what the league was working on before their unfortunate season suspension.

As always, once we have more information on this subject we’ll make sure to keep you in the loop.
