Steelers Release Former Wildcats WR Saeed Blacknall

Steelers Re-Sign Former Los Angeles Wildcats WR Saeed Blacknall

As the NFL season approached we’ve seen former XFL players get tryouts, signed and in some instances cut. Last week we reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers had decided to release former Los Angeles Wildcats wide receiver Saeed Blacknall to make room for Ray-Ray McCloud.

We expected to see Blacknall get another shot with another team, and just now we’re learning he has once again been signed…. by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Seems like the Steelers may have regretted their earlier transaction. Either way, we’re happy to see Saeed Blacknull back in the NFL.

Blacknall originally signed with the Steelers in April after playing in the Los Angeles Wildcats during the XFL’s shortened 2020 season. In his three games played in in the XFL, Blacknall caught four passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as an un-drafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2018, playing only one game with the team before being cut.

As we get closer to the 2020 NFL season we expect to see more former XFL players get an opportunity in the NFL. You can stay up to date with all the latest transactions with our XFL to NFL Player Tracker.
