DFS Play of the Week: Jhurell Pressley $6,800
So far this season, Pressley, and his backfield mate Donnell Pumphrey, have been a bit disappointing. The Defenders have been relying heavily on the arm of Cardale Jones as well as their defense to put up points. But I think this week is the breakout game for Pressley. The Los Angeles Wildcats were gashed on the ground by the Renegades last week, to the tune of 142 rushing yards between Lance Dunbar and Cameron Artis-Payne. Moreover, the Wildcats secondary is quickly improving as they intercepted Landry Jones twice last week and will get former Defenders CB Bradley Slyve on the field this week. I think if Pep Hamilton’s squad wants to be successful this week, they will need to turn to the ground game and rely on Pressley and Pumphrey to get it done. At the price of $6,800, he is an absolute bargain for the potential volume coming to him this week in LA.
Pivot of the Week: Jordan Ta’amu $10,100
After proving me right last week as my Pivot Of The Week, I am rolling with Ta’amu once again. The general public will be firing up PJ Walker in a possible blowout game against the Vipers, however, I think the smarter play is to roll with 4th lowest priced QB instead. The Battlehawks are finally getting a home game, in a sold out Dome at America’s Center (27,500 projected attendance). In addition, they are getting a good matchup as the Guardians have been destroyed by the pass in terms of yardage in the past 2 weeks. I think this is a potential blowout, as I expect the Battlehawks to really play off the crowd’s energy and dominate the Guardians. Ta’amu is currently the #2 QB in XFL Fantasy Football so far, only behind Walker by 4 points, and at his price point, fire him up with confidence in your lineups to win big.
Value of the Week: Battlehawks Defense $3,700
As stated above, the Battlehawks are going to be playing in a sold-out Dome, giving them a huge home-field advantage. The noise should be a huge factor for the Guardians offense in this game, and definitely will not help stabilize their offense after last week’s meltdown. This Battlehawks defense is legit, they silenced Hal Mumme’s Air Raid in Week 1, and they did a great job at holding the Roughnecks to just 238 total yards. Expect this Defense to absolutely feast on Matt McGloin this week, and to put up some huge fantasy numbers.
