WWE issues fan survey asking fans what they would like to see in the XFL

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the WWE issued a fan survey asking fans what they would like to see with the resurgence of the XFL in 2020.

Below are several concepts the survey touted which might reveal more on possible rules and overall ideas for the league promising to be “football reimagined”.

“Warp speed football reinvented.” This is the marketing concept being used by the XFL to promote their plan to speed up the game of football.

The possibilities for rules to help speed up the game might include no kickoffs, no timeouts, and a 20-second play clock which could eliminate huddles. The survey notes players will therefore be in better condition because they have less time to rest. Additionally, the running clock would only stop during a change of possession.

Other ideas being discussed include the following:

  • New helmets will reportedly be used in the XFL with no face guards so fans can see the facial expressions of the players during the game
  • Marching bands will be used much like in college football
  • “Backstage” locker room videos will be produced to allow fans to see what is happening behind-the-scenes during a game
  • Fans calling plays might be introduced, as the XFL plans to integrate the fans and social media into the live games as much as possible

This is interesting to note, because it wasn’t actually the XFL that sent this out, this was sent out by the WWE. This has been verified by numerous fans on Twitter, showing the survey on WWE’s Fan Council.
