The XFL plans on being more fan friendly and “reimagined” when they launch in February 2020.
Part of their vision to “reimagine” the way the sport of football is played is by making changes to the rules in an effort to make things more exciting on the field.
The league conducted three days of rules testing in Mississippi from December 4-6 in conjunction with the National Junior College Athletic Association. The purpose of the testing is to put certain ideas to the test to see if they would work during a full game.
This past week they focused on the two-minute drill, new lineman rules and tired-point conversion after touchdowns. The tiered-point idea is to eliminate the extra kick after a touchdown. Teams will have the opportunity to go for 1 extra point from the 2-yard line, 2 points from the 5-yard line or 3 points from the 15-yard line.
At this point, there is no word on how far along these ideas are and nothing appears to be set in stone but we’ll keep you posted.
