In a recent interview on ESPN Radio in Seattle. XFL commissioner Oliver Luck stated that he has had discussions with NFL teams. He contacted each team and the league before The XFL awarded their 8 teams to New York, Los Angeles, Tampa, St.Louis, Houston, Dallas, Washington and of course Seattle.
Oliver Luck stated that he had a discussion with his good friend Seahawk President/GM John Schneider. Schneider told Luck how much the league misses NFL Europe. Luck says that all the NFL personnel workers say the same thing to him. Luck ran NFL Europe in the 90’s. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll also went on record recently stating that he is excited about the XFL and the opportunity it can give to players. The XFL figures to employ 500 pro football players.
In the interview, Luck reiterated that The XFL is not and has no intention to be a developmental league for the NFL but that he understands that any pro football league that isn’t the NFL, is by default a developmental league for them.
